Responsibilities

The Building Division is responsible for building permit and code administration by providing plan review, inspection services, building code information, code enforcement and public outreach.  The Building Division provides life safety assurance and solution-oriented services to the city through the application of professional skills and adopted standards by regulating the construction, repair or alteration, demolition, and occupancy of all buildings and structures within the city. Our primary mission is to provide life safety and a better quality of living to the residents of the City of Monroe. 

Inspection Requests

PLEASE NOTE: Building inspections will not be held on Friday 5/26 or Monday 5/29.

The City is currently conducting building inspections.

Electrical permits are obtained through the Department of Labor & Industries. You can access their web site here.

Please note that the cut off time for inspection requests is 4 p.m. Building staff will attempt to conduct inspects within 24 hours of the request.
