SIDEWALK USE PERMITS

The City of Monroe is offering downtown businesses the opportunity to set up a temporary Sidewalk Cafe!


Monroe is committed to the revitalization and reestablishment of Monroe's downtown area as a vital economic sector of the City for the community's benefit and enjoyment. To achieve this and to continue to keep a healthy, vibrant downtown, the City has in recent years widened certain sidewalks located within downtown which will accommodate both pedestrian traffic and use of the sidewalk area by adjacent businesses. This is all being provided to businesses to increase the vitality of Monroe's downtown and to foster a pedestrian-oriented streetscape for the downtown area.

Of course, there is paperwork required in order to be compliant with the Monroe Municipal Code; however, no fees are attached to these permits, so it's a win-win situation!!   Please see the application packet below and when you are ready to submit your completed application and required documents, you can email land use here.
