SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR BALLOT MEASURE PRO/CON COMMITTEES
MONROE, WA – The Monroe Transportation Benefit District Board is currently seeking volunteers to be appointed to Ballot Measure Argument (Pro/Con) Committees, for the proposed ballot proposition for the August 5, 2014, primary election.
The ballot proposition would authorize the imposition of a sales and use tax in the amount of two-tenths of one percent (0.2 %) within the boundaries of the district, for a period of ten years, in order to fund or finance transportation improvements. The funds generated by the Transportation Benefit District would be used for transportation improvements that preserve, maintain and operate the existing transportation infrastructure of the City, consistent with the requirements of Chapter 36.73 RCW; specifically, the preservation of City of Monroe streets, including pavement repair, overlay, chip seal and patching.
