MONROE – February 27, 2013 at 4:56 am: Officers were dispatched to the report of a burglary that had occurred at a former masonry company in the 13800 block of Fryelands Boulevard, Monroe. An employed night watchman advised officers that two males had broke into the building, one of the males had a knife and large pruning shears in his possession. An altercation occurred between the night watchman and one of the suspects; the watchman struck the suspect and knocked him to the ground detaining him until officers arrived. The other suspect fled westbound on foot; a police K-9 was deployed to the scene and searched the area, the second suspect was not located. The night watchman was treated at Valley General Hospital for shoulder and wrist injuries.
James Mellett, age 51 of Sultan was transported to Providence Hospital for a head laceration and then taken to the Snohomish County Jail for booking on Burglary 1st Degree charges.
