MONROE – January 6, 2021:  At 2:48 am, officers responded to a dumpster fire that had spread to a residence in the 100 block of Charles Street, Monroe.   Upon arrival, flames and smoke were visible from two dumpsters and a residence.  One of the dumpsters had already burned to the ground.

The occupants, a male and female along with their two children, ages one and two, escaped the home.  The female said the family was sleeping and she was awoken by a “big bang”.   When she went to investigate, she saw flames outside the door.  The family then exited the residence.    There were no injuries.  The structure had sustained substantial damage and the Red Cross was called by the fire department to assist the displaced family.

Detectives along with a Snohomish County Fire Marshall responded to the scene, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
