This afternoon we received word that Ms. Donnetta Walser passed away. Donnetta taught in the Monroe School District for 27 years and served as a city official for over 32 years, including two terms as Monroe’s Mayor from 2002 to 2009.

“Donnetta has touched many lives in our community. She will be missed,” Mayor
Thomas said, adding “Our hearts and prayers are with Donnetta’s husband, Fred
Walser, and her family.”

In honor of Ms. Donnetta Walser’s service and her memory, Mayor Thomas directed
that flags will be flown at half-staff from December 23, through December 30, 2016.
