PANHANDLING & SOLICITATION
“Aggressive” panhandling and
solicitation is not allowed anywhere in Monroe.
“Aggressive” panhandling and
solicitation is when someone:
Asks you for something, including money, in a threatening or forceful way,
Keeps asking you for something after you said “no,” or
Blocks your path to try to get something from you.
If you feel aggressive panhandling has happened:
Get to a safe place,
CALL 911, and
Provide a report to the responding officer.
Private property owners can allow panhandling unless it is “aggressive.” If you have concerns about this on private property, please contact a store employee or property owner. They may call 911 for help.
