MONROE – January 16, 2015 at 08:01 am: Officers responded to a 911 call of a burglary that had occurred sometime during the night at the Dashing Dutchman Deli in the 14900 block of N Kelsey Street, Monroe. Upon arrival, the owner explained that when he arrived he noticed some things that weren’t quite right. He first noticed that the front counter had been rummaged through. The cash drawer and another drawer underneath the counter were open and tip money was missing. The owner also showed where ceiling tiles had been removed and there were shoe print(s) on top of a counter. There was also a one dollar bill lying on the counter that was underneath the tile that had been removed from the ceiling. The officers were then taken to the men’s restroom where there was a hole in the wall that connected to a sprinkler room. It appears that the burglar may have broken into the sprinkler room from an outside door to get inside the business. Video surveillance shows the suspect coming through the ceiling down into the kitchen/front counter area and rummaging through several drawers before leaving back through the ceiling. The suspect is fully clothed with gloves, sweatshirt and coverings over his head and face.
