The eastbound SR 522 ramp to eastbound US 2 will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24 to 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 for work on the eastbound 179th Avenue Southeast/154th Street Southeast and West Main Street bridges. The ramp will be closed around-the-clock. Drivers will follow a short detour by simply continuing east to the end of SR 522 where they can then turn east or west onto US 2.
During the extended ramp closure, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will remove all the asphalt on the eastbound lanes of the West Main Street and 179th Avenue Southeast bridges, perform repair work, waterproof the concrete and then repave the bridges. Traffic cannot be allowed on the bridges while this work is underway. Crews will also work on highway drainage and pour concrete for additional median barriers along the highway.
The work is part of the SR 522 widening project, which adds two new westbound lanes to the highway from US 2 to the Snohomish River Bridge. The widening project is scheduled to be complete in late 2014.
