[ARCHIVED] Excessive Heat Warning

Excessive Heat Warning

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Western Washington, beginning at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon and extending through 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 28. An Excessive Heat Warning indicates dangerously hot conditions, with high temperatures rising to the high 90s and peaking above 100 degrees on Sunday and Monday.

Several Monroe organizations will be open to the public as cooling stations throughout the warning period; the following locations will be available for members of the public to have a safe place to cool off when the temperatures rise:

Friday, June 25

  • Monroe Library: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Monroe Community Senior Center: 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, June 26

  • Monroe Library: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • Miracles and Memories Academy: 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, June 27

  • Monroe Library: 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.
  • Monroe Community Senior Center: 1:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue Station 31: 12:00 p.m - 9:00 p.m.
  • Miracles and Memories Academy: 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. 

Monday, June 28

  • Monroe Library: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Monroe Community Senior Center: 1:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue Station 31: 12:00 - 9:00 p.m.
  • St. Vincent de Paul Community Resource Center: 12:00 - 6:00 p.m.

In addition to these, there are numerous air conditioned attractions around Monroe, such as Galaxy Theatres. If traveling outside Monroe, there are several cooling station locations across Snohomish County; visit the Snohomish Health District website for an alphabetical list. If you choose to stake out a spot on the river or Lake Tye, please remember to practice water safety.
