[ARCHIVED] Skykomish-Snohomish River Wayfinding Public Open House

Wayfinding

Snohomish County Parks, Recreation and Tourism will unveil final Skykomish and Snohomish river signage plans and designs on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at the Startup Events Center (14315 366th Avenue SE, Sultan, WA 98294). The event will feature life-size renderings designed to provide critical messaging about river safety and sensitive habitat at twelve prioritized public access sites on these two rivers. Specific signage locations and circulation plans will also be presented.

The environmental graphics design agency chosen to design these vital signs, Tangram Design, will also present at 7:00 p.m. on the assessment process and outcomes for the signage plan informed by the Skykomish-Snohomish River Recreation Coalition and its Technical Advisory Committee.  Current needs and future implementation goals will also be discussed.

“This project highlights the need to be good stewards of our vital river systems,” said Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers. “The collaboration between public agencies, the Tulalip Department of Natural Resources, community leaders, and residents demonstrates significant support for our river systems and the need to protect our beautiful natural resources for generations to come.”

“This three-year project provides detailed research and significant insight needed for future inter-agency collaborative projects,” said Tom Teigen, County Parks Director. “Collaboration is key to protecting what we love so much about our rivers while enjoying their awe-inspiring beauty.”
