SEATTLE, WA (August 11, 2016) – Snohomish County is getting an infusion of action sports this summer. The INT League, a watersports league will be hosting a waterski, wakeboard and wake surf event in conjunction with the first annual Skate the Lake a skate park competition at the brand new Lake Tye Skate Park Saturday, August 13 and Sunday, August 14.
This event will feature a novice through pro level competition for waterskiers, wakeboarders, wake surfers, wake skaters, and kneeboarders event on the lake. On shore, venture over to the brand new skate park and watch some skate boarding! The event will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, and free for spectators.
The Lake Tye Skate Park has been under construction all summer as the City of Monroe has been making major improvements. The City is hosting the park’s grand opening at 10am on Saturday. Mayor Geoffrey Thomas and the Monroe City Council will be present to cut the ribbon and welcome the community to the newly renovated skate board park. A skate park competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
Anyone can enter to ride or ski in the competition and the skate park competition. Pre-registration for the INT event is available on intleague.com website, and skate park competition registration will take place at the park Saturday and Sunday morning.
Water skiers and riders will be coming from Snohomish country, and all over Washington, Oregon, Vancouver and Idaho to participate in the watersports events. It is the fifth in an INT League tour of events in Washington this summer.
The INT League competition is separated into ability based divisions with some age and gender breakdowns. INT offers beginner through pro level divisions. Each rider or skier will compete against people of similar ability level. Kids, moms, dads, college students, working professionals, retirees and more will all be out at the lake enjoying the calm water conditions of Monroe’s aquatic gem.
Event participants just need to bring their board or ski, and life jacket. Ropes and handles will be provided by Proline. The best watersports specific boats will be at the event to pull the tournament.
The event is made possible by Pacific Nautique, Sioeye Live Streaming Cameras, Bjornson Marine, Lake Union Sea Ray, Northwest Inboards, Seattle Watersports, Mastercraft Northwest, Lynnwood Motoplex, Sandbar Marine, Wiley’s Watersports, Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Evergreen Suites, and Lyght Skate Boards.
