[ARCHIVED] Downtown Holiday Events

light up monroe

The Monroe Chamber of Commerce hosts its decades-old holiday tradition of community tree lighting and hometown celebration in historic downtown Monroe on Saturday the 6th of December from 11 am to 7 pm.

PLEASE NOTE: The date for Light Up Monroe has been changed to the first Saturday in December, not the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The goal for the 2014 celebration is to produce even more wonderful memory-making experiences that showcase the small-town heart of Monroe. The Chamber hopes to produce a quality, family-oriented holiday celebration to welcome shoppers into downtown for the entire week prior with Shop HERE Buy LOCAL beginning Saturday November 29th, and ending with live SNOW, music, entertainment and a Tree Lighting, December 6th.

The 2014 event schedule includes:
11 am till 6 pm: Free antique tractor-trailer rides hosted by the Western Heritage Cultural Center and Museum departing and returning from the “triangle” building on the corner of Blakely and Main. Rides will wind through the historic residential sections of downtown.
This is a great family and group activity – up to 20 people can ride along together per trip!
11 am to 6 pm: Take-your-own-photos with the real Santa and Mrs. Clause, on an incredible stage surrounded by decorations and an artisan bazaar.
11-6 pm: Various music productions will be on stage as well as wandering around historic Downtown.
11-6 pm: Food trucks, vendors, critters, SNOW!
12-5pm: Chocolate Tasting at various locations
11-6 pm: Paint Ball action! FREE
12-1 pm: Live radio coverage.
5:45 pm: The Mayor of Monroe and Santa lead the countdown from the Stage located on the corner of Main and Lewis, for the 6:00 pm tree lighting.
