Title VI and ADA Notices
There are two federal civil rights laws that guide the City of Monroe’s efforts to inform and engage people about its services, programs, and activities: Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), specifically Title II. Rules associated with these two Federal laws are developed and implemented by the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.
The City strives to comply with the requirements of both laws which prohibit the discrimination against any person because of race, color, national origin, or disability. It is the City’s commitment to develop plans and practices that ensure compliance with these non-discrimination laws. Should the City not achieve compliance, it offers a complaint process for those who feel they were discriminated against when seeking to engage with the City of Monroe.
