Theft of Garden Cart Leads to Guns and Drugs

MONROE – Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 7:23 a.m., an employee of a closed business located in the 13600 block of Roosevelt Road, watched as a suspect stole a garden cart from the parking lot of the business.  The employee called 911, correctly identifying a license plate and direction of travel for the suspect vehicle, described as a pickup truck.

Monroe Police officers arrived in the area, locating the suspect vehicle in a nearby neighborhood.  Officers stopped the suspect vehicle and observed the stolen utility cart within the bed of the pickup truck. 

Three individuals occupied the truck, all residents of Monroe.  The driver was identified as a 45 year-old male.  Passengers included a 35 year-old female and a 40 year-old male.  The driver was taken into custody for Theft 3rd Degree and booked into Snohomish County Jail.  Passengers were released from custody pending further investigation.

Monroe Police Department Narcotics K9 Sam and his handler Officer Tucker responded to the scene for a Narcotics K9 application.  K9 Sam alerted to the vehicle resulting in a vehicle impound and search warrant application.  Upon serving the search warrant on the vehicle, Officers located the following:

  • 35.7 Grams of Heroin, 69.2 Grams of Methamphetamine, Digital Scales
  • 31.6 Grams of Mushrooms, all suspected to be illegally possessed
  • 99 Pills stamped as Oxycodone
  • Ruger LCP .380 firearm, taken in a Burglary reported to Everett Police Department
  • Cobray M-11 9mm firearm with an extended magazine and barrel extension piece
  • Stolen license plate, Stolen Debit Card, $150 Cash

This case remains under investigation by the Monroe Police Department.
