The public is invited to comment on the conceptual site design for the North Kelsey area at the City’s Planning Commission meeting on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 7 p.m.; Monroe City Hall.
On March, 20, 2019, the City entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Tarragon L.L.C., an interested developer, is proposing to build a horizontal mixed-use project which combines 3-story, multi-family residential, 15,000 square feet detached retail building. The residential development is 15 buildings and 180 dwelling units over 11 acres. The development includes a park and bocce ball courts. Tarragon submitted a conceptual site design for City Council feedback prior to the Memorandum of Understanding expiring on June 24, 2019.
The North Kelsey area was purchased by the City in 2005 from Snohomish County. The intent of the North Kelsey area was to develop retail, office space, and a village green for community gatherings. Current retailers in the area include, Fred Meyer, Wal-Mart, Lowe’s, Safeway, Rite Aid, and Galaxy 12 Movie Theater.
The City currently has one more bond payment of approximately $2.8 million dollars which is due in 2020.
