Sidewalk At-Grade Railroad Crossings

Project Description

The City received a Community Development Block grant (CDBG) from Snohomish County to design and construct two sidewalk segments across the railroad tracks. The sidewalks will be at the same grade as the road (at-grade) and will be along the east side of both 179th Avenue SE and Fryelands Boulevard.

Project Updates

9/8/17 - We anticipate the project construction beginning in October. BNSF railroad is reviewing contractor documentation and determining their own resource needs for this project.

8/2/17 - The project was advertised for contractor bids in July with the low bid and award going to Road Construction Northwest (RCNW). Construction will begin in mid-September or sooner depending on the contractor's schedule and coordination with Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad.

5/1/17 - The design is complete. City engineering staff are putting the finishing touches on the use agreements with BNSF. Once the agreements are in place the project will be advertised for contractor bids.

2/3/17 - City engineering staff continue to advance the design while working closely with Burlington Northern Sante Fe and the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission.
